poetry thursday, change.

transition-1. Passage from one form, state, style, or place to another.

i want to grow my hair
long and unkept
with knots
and little sticks wound in
i want to sit in the sun
and daydream
i want to be artistic creative eclectic odd
i want loud music
i want to start using pencil crayons
i want silence
occasionally
i want to be known
yet unknown
i want to be whimsical and dry
sweet and sarcastic
alone and witty
dark but happy.

I wish I could come up with 8 sentences that start with "I want. . . " This is a great list!

I like this, I can relate to that first bit (love the image), and the contrasting desires at the end.

Sounds just perfect! Why can't you have everything you want?!

Change as fantasy - this is beautifully expressed. It's like a daydream that can just keep running through your mind.

I love the opening image of the hair in knots. It's such a surprising and welcoming opening. Nice work!

What a great list of wants - "dark but happy" - that's one to leave me thinking.

Great list - I love the hair imagery! Then the contradictions at the end are a reminder of how we want to make changes that pull us in opposite directions. How can we make all these changes and remain true to ourselves?

I enjoyed reading it aloud. A few of it, I wish too!

I love this!

I read it wanting...to have said it myself, and when I read it I thought I was reading out loud hearing echos. It was nearly deja vu, so aligned were my own wishes.

Yes, I agree, a great poem from top to bottom but I too (like Jessica and Crafty Green) was smitten by the hair.
