you know what.

i
think
i might
just
do
this.

and i have taken
my first class
in community school
crochet...
it was,
um...
interesting...
as the elderly grandmother type instructor
with the heavy accent
physically pushed and pulled at my
useless
hands poking the unwieldly crochet hook
this way and that
saying "no...too loose! no....go through 2 holes,
2 holes! now three! now three!"

and the look of shock on the faces of the
instructor and the one other woman besides
me braving the crochet class
when i said i had two children aged 7 and 11...

staring at me open mouthed momentarily
and then the instructor saying
"no. no. you look high school. you look too
young"
and the other woman saying she thought
i was 17.

a sweet nice compliment which i love
but no...i didn't start having babies
at six....

oh...and how 'bout a delurking?
huh? how 'bout it? you feel like it?
go on, leave a comment,
it would make me smile...
:)

i love the way you've turned crocheting into a poem. :)

I would love to learn to crochet or knit!! I'm jealous!! Sad thing is.. I don't even know the difference.

So are you going to make anything - will that be part of your list?

You've created a whole scene before my eyes - the teacher's hands forcing yours to make the stitches and dropped jaws disbelieving your age. It's a great piece.

I haven't crocheted in years, but have an old pink (ugh) afgan I love to prove that I gave it a try.

I think I've commented here once before, but I read regularly.... so I guess I'm kinda delurking again. How fun and brave that you're taking a crocheting class just for the hell of it!

I read your blog regularly, but am a quiet commenter... Love every word,
